Auto Injury Massage
If you have been in an automobile accident, your doctor may prescribe massage as part of your treatment plan. Massage can address the stress that goes with a traumatic event like a car accident, and it can help address many of the sprains, strains, and other injuries common in a motor vehicle accident (or MVA, an acronym you may encounter on insurance and other forms).
Typically, the goals of massage therapy in injury recovery are to:
•reduce pain and swelling
•improve range of motion
Immediately after a car accident, massage therapy can help you recover by helping to restore balance to your autonomic nervous system – i.e., the relaxation benefits of massage can help reverse the effects that the shock and trauma of a car wreck can have on your nervous system. Massage also promotes circulation of both blood and lymph, which can help manage the swelling (edema) that usually comes with auto accident injuries. During the sub-acute stage (a few days to a few weeks, or even longer, after the accident), massage can help maintain and improve range of motion and may help prevent the formation of scar tissue and other myofascial adhesions. Later in your recovery, orthopedic massage can address specific musculoskeletal injuries like whiplash, neck pain, back pain, headaches, shoulder sprains/strains, etc.
My auto accident massage treatments follow this protocol. Early in your treatment, I focus on addressing the effects of trauma, using relaxing techniques like Swedish massage and craniosacral technique. As soon as it is safe, I incorporate Swedish gymnastics, deep tissue massage, muscle energy technique, and other modalities to increase range of motion and prevent scar tissue and other myofascial adhesions from forming. Later in your recovery, I may add orthopedic massage techniques designed to address specific musculoskeletal conditions like myofascial adhesions, muscle strains, ligament sprains, etc.
No two car accidents are the same, and everyone responds differently, so I always adapt my treatments to your unique needs. Many factors (the severity of the accident, the extent and nature of your injuries, your daily activities, etc.) affect your recovery, and I account for these factors in your care.
Your safety is always my first priority in any massage treatment, but I am particularly careful to create a safe environment for auto accident victims. You are likely to be in distress not only because of your injuries, but also because you may be unable to fulfill your normal work, family, and community obligations. “Normal life” has probably gone by the wayside as you deal non-stop with doctors and other health care providers, insurance companies, personal injury attorneys, auto body shops, and other people you never wanted to meet. The last thing you need is more stress, so I create a welcoming space, listen to you attentively, and communicate clearly throughout your massage
The most common injuries due to auto accidents that I see in my practice are:
Please bring a doctors prescription to release you for massage therapy
Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for "massage", and it is part of a larger native Hawaiian tradition of healing and natural body care. According to Hawaiian tradition, all living beings are seeking a state of balance and love in the world. During a Lomi Lomi session, therefore, I focus on not only relaxing your body through gentle touch, but also reviving your spirit and filling your body with the energy of love.
Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.
The Trager Approach is a type of bodywork developed by Dr. Milton Trager. It is designed to free up the body, release muscle tension, and improve your state of mind and physical well-being. Because Trager is a very gentle and individualized type of bodywork, it is suitable for a wide range of clients including the disabled and the elderly. The tension and pain released by Trager sessions allows you to move more naturally and effortlessly, improving your overall quality of life.
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.
Hot stones, heat therapy, healing Himalayan salt rocks, and. Bamboo Fusion sticks may be used during treatment along with essential healing oils and balms.
Pregnancy Massage "Discounted"
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
Custom-tailored "Combo" Massage
" Best Value "
This type of massage is tailored for your body's needs. Hot Stones and bamboo sticks will be used along with moist heat therapy and aroma oils. Modalities ranging from Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and cranial sacral along with several other modalities will be applied.
Bamboo Fusion Massage
What is a bamboo fusion? Bamboo fusion massage, also simply known as a bamboo massage, is a relaxation technique that combines various lengths and widths of bamboo stalks to perform a deep-tissue massage. Some bamboo massage therapists use a combination of traditional Chinese medicine (i.e. bamboo stalks and cups are used in specific ways); shiatsu, Ayurveda, Thai, and lymphatic drainage massage techniques to “unwind” tense, strained, and stressed muscles. Other bamboo therapists, on the other hand, use heated bamboo sticks, and/or heated essential oils to relax your body, or a combination of all of these approaches to provide relief and relaxation.
This type of massage not only encourages sensory nerve perception, circulation, and lymph
What is the purpose of a bamboo fusion massage? This type of massage is used to soothe sore, tender, and painful muscles by kneading them with warm/hot bamboo stalks. The bamboo stalks vary in size, width, and weight. This massage increases circulation, eases your mind, and relaxes your body.
During a bamboo fusion massage session, your massage therapist starts at your foot (on one side) and gradually moves upwards towards your head. Once that side is finished, he/she repeats the process on the other side of your body. The size of the bamboo stalks used during the massage is based on what muscle groups are being worked on. For instance, a 4-inch bamboo stalk is used for your feet, while a larger 16-inch stalk is used to massage the larger parts of your body (i.e. back, legs, and arms). Your therapist then rubs a variety of specially-formulated, aromatic oils on your body. He/she then moves the bamboo stalks over your muscles in sweeping motions. These motions not only warm your stressed and strained muscles, they also help both your mind and body relax.
Listed below are ways that bamboo fusion massages can improve your health and well-being:
- Ease headaches and migraines
- Improve arthritis
- Strengthen respiratory functions (breathing)
- “Unwind” stubborn tension knots
- Relieve back and shoulder pain
- Increase joint and muscle mobility and flexibility
- Enhance sports performance
